Pheidole noda
This is a small to medium sized species of ants. They are a long-limbed, dark-coloured species most easily recognized by their distinctly large heads. They are more commonly known in the antkeeping community as a fast-growing and very aggressive species. You won’t have any problem finding video’s of this species as they tear apart various prey items.

Distribution: Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Vietnam)
Habitat: often found in woodland like forests and open lands with a lot of greenery
Natural nest: they often build their nests underground and in dead wood
Suitable formicaria: Ytong-, plaster-, 3D- and acrylicnests are all suitable for this species

Recommended temperature: 24°C – 28°C
Nutrition: a sugar source such as honey or sugarwater and a protein source such as prey insects like crickets or fruitflies. Insect jelly is also a suitable feeder since it contains both sugar and protein and varius other beneficial components
